Brian May and Roger Taylor celebrate Queen’s 40th Anniversary In the Studio.
The Stories Behind Historyʼs Greatest Rock Bands delivers Part 2 of its Queen40th Anniversary program. In their 5 studio albums between 1975-80, Queen would cement its status as international rock royalty, outselling The Beatles, Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones. Queen encompassed a great variety of musical styles from hard rock to rockabilly, campy vaudeville to mock opera to funk. But it is Queen’s rock anthems “We Will Rock You” and “We are the Champions” that continue to have universal appeal, as Brian May noted to host/interviewer Redbeard .
“He (Freddie) could already see how it would be, if we played it in a concert and everyone had their hands in the air and we sang “We Are The Champions” …Years later we talked about it and he said to me, ‘Rock‘n’Roll is the only place where everybody has a feeling of like being on a team, but you’re not fighting anybody.’ ”
