Jack White’s Debut Solo Album Makes a Splash on Billboard charts
Blunderbuss, Jack White‘s debut solo album, has surged to the top of the Billboard top 200 albums chart. For the first time ever, Jack finds himself perched atop on of the nation’s most prestigious music charts.
Jack sold 138,000 copies of Blunderbuss in its first week in stores, states Billboard. And while Jack is no stranger to Billboard’s charts, he’s never reached the No. 1 spot. In fact, the White Stripes’ 2007 album Icky Thump debuted at No. 2 with 223,000 copies sold, marking Jack’s previous highpoint. But Jack’s success last week spanned further than the states. In the U.K., Blunderbuss bumped Adele‘s 21 off the top of the charts, and debuted at No. 1 in Canada, Portugal, and Switzerland, as well.
As if Jack’s surge up the charts last week wasn’t enough, the rocker also made an appearance on the Colbert Report where he attempted an interview with host Stephen Colbert and performed “Freedom at 21″ from his latest album.
